Position Overview:
We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Nephrologist to join a well-established and growing practice in Lynchburg, Virginia. The incoming physician will join a collaborative team of 8 Nephrologists and 6 Advanced Practitioners (including part-time providers). Our group is the primary nephrology provider for a region serving approximately 350,000 residents, with extensive outpatient, inpatient, and dialysis-based care.
About the Practice:
Primary nephrology group for the Central Virginia region
Coverage of 13 dialysis clinics, with medical directorship in 7
Management of 660+ ESRD dialysis patients and more than 10,000 CKD patients
Two main outpatient CKD clinics and coverage of two regional hospitals
Highly collegial environment with strong administrative and clinical support
Position Responsibilities:
Participate in a shared hospital call schedule (current weekend rotation: 1:6)
Provide care in outpatient nephrology clinics
Round at dialysis units and manage ESRD and CKD patient populations
Collaborate with fellow physicians and advanced practitioners to deliver high-quality nephrology care
Compensation & Benefits:
Starting Salary: $270,000 with annual increases

Education & Certification:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program
Completion of a Nephrology fellowship
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Nephrology
Valid and unrestricted Virginia medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
Current DEA certification (or ability to obtain)
Clinical Skills & Experience:
Strong clinical competency in the diagnosis and management of chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, and ESRD
Experience managing patients in outpatient clinics, dialysis units, and hospital settings
Ability to participate in shared call coverage (current weekend rotation 1:6)
Familiarity with dialysis modalities, dialysis rounding, and CKD patient management
Commitment to evidence-based practice and high-quality patient care
Professional Skills & Expectations:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-physician, multi-APP practice
Strong organizational and time-management abilities
Dedicated to maintaining accurate and timely documentation
Willingness to participate in medical directorship responsibilities as needed
Professionalism consistent with a practice offering a partnership track
