Position Overview:
This position is responsible for physical therapy patient service delivery, including evaluation and treatment of routine and complex patients with neurologic and/or orthopedic diagnoses depending on clinic coverage needs. The PT performs required documentation and communicates patient information across the continuum of care, participates in training and program development, and represents the department to the medical and general community. Demonstrates competence in the UC San Diego Health core values.
Per‑diem coverage includes backup service between multiple rehab locations. The PT is expected to work weekdays and weekends as availability allows.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of Physical Therapy approved by the American Medical Association and the American Physical Therapy Association, eligibility for registration by the National Registry of the American Physical Therapy Association.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Physical Therapist (PT) license issued by the state of California.
Prior experience in an outpatient setting.
Preferred Qualifications
One to three (1–3) years of experience as a licensed PT in an outpatient setting with neurological (including stroke, Parkinson's, MS) and orthopedic patient populations.
Special Conditions
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
May flex and float between sites as needed.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act – Annual Full Pay Range:
$133,152 – $147,643 (pro‑rated if appointment percentage is less than 100%).
Hourly Equivalent:
$63.77 – $70.71. Compensation is determined by experience, skills, knowledge, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
