Program Navigator (TAYHealth and Wellness Center) Location: 888 Post Street, San Francisco, CA. Base pay range: $26.92/hr - $26.92/hr. This role is contingent upon available funding through this contract.

Position Summary The TAY HWC Program Navigator exemplifies and models GLIDE’s mission and values, builds respectful rapport with program participants, and safely guides and connects participants to the Center’s resources, services, and other support staff to achieve relief, safety, and wellness. The Navigator serves as host for the Center – guiding participants through the available resources such as showers, lockers, pantry, grooming services, clothing, laundry, Wi‑Fi, etc. The Navigator is a critical connector linking participants to case managers, job development specialists, housing specialists, and other community partners who provide critical onsite services. The Navigator also performs regular wellness checks to ensure participants’ safety while onsite. Work schedules may include weekend or non‑traditional hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Welcome and orient participants to the Center including community agreements, safety protocols, and available resources.

Foster an inclusive atmosphere, encourage positive behavior, and promote mutual respect between staff and participants.

Help participants access amenities such as snacks, showers, clothing, restrooms, laundry, etc., and manage sign‑in, service, inventory logs, and intakes.

Offer directions and guidance to participants seeking assistance, demonstrate patience, understanding, and a willingness to help, linking them to care internally or externally when needed.

Perform safety and wellness checks inside the Center and surrounding areas to ensure participants feel safe and supported.

Maintain safety, cleanliness, organization, and inventory for common areas such as lounge, pantry, and conference rooms.

Collaborate with onsite staff and service providers to ensure all services are accessible to participants, de‑escalate conflict or provide alternate means of accessing resources.

Document and report safety or health concerns to Shift Supervisor or Program Manager.

Maintain accurate records of observations, engagements, referrals, connections, and outreach activities using paper logs and/or Salesforce database.

Attend regular meetings and training sessions to stay informed about neighborhood developments, resources, and best practices, embodying the values of GLIDE.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform essential duties.

3+ years of experience in health or human services, providing advocacy, navigation, and/or low‑threshold case management for high‑need individuals.

Computer proficiency: typing, internet research, document formatting, and data entry.

Must have or complete CPR, First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Crisis Prevention Certification, and Overdose Prevention within 3 months of hire.

Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, knowledge of de‑escalation techniques.

Experience managing crowds, lines, and access to critical resources with populations experiencing high stress and trauma.

Ability to communicate with emergency personnel during emergencies.

Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective safety and security operations.

Excellent organization and planning abilities; ability to multi‑task within specific timelines.

Ability to respond to high‑intensity situations, de‑escalate interactions, and work within a complex environment in the Tenderloin neighborhood; apply community‑based principles with persons experiencing homelessness, substance use, and mental health issues.

Work Environment

GLIDE’s buildings are located in the Tenderloin neighborhood.

GLIDE maintains an “open door” policy; clients frequently enter and leave the building.

Physical Requirements

Work effectively on a computer and view small details.

Hear within normal range and communicate effectively in person, telephone, or Zoom.

Finger dexterity and use of standard office equipment.

Sit or stand comfortably; navigate office spaces via elevator or stairs.

This is a full‑time (40 hour/week) non‑Exempt position covered by the collective bargaining agreement.
