Job Title: Director of Government Relations (Washington, D.C.)

Position Summary: We are looking for a seasoned Government Relations Director to represent our company’s interests in the U.S. market. The ideal candidate will be a U.S. citizen with deep expertise in government relations, preferably with experience working for Chinese or Asia-Pacific companies. This role will be pivotal in shaping policy engagement, building strategic partnerships, and advocating for our business in the consumer health and medical consumables sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute comprehensive government relations strategies to support the company’s business objectives in the U.S.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including federal and state legislators, regulatory agencies, and industry associations.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the medical consumables and consumer health industries, providing timely insights and risk assessments.
Advocate for policies that foster a favorable business environment for Chinese companies operating in the U.S.
Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., legal, compliance, business development) to align government relations efforts with corporate goals.
Represent the company at industry events, hearings, and meetings with government officials.
Prepare briefing materials, position papers, and presentations for senior leadership.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, or a similar role, with a proven track record of influencing policy.
Must be a U.S. citizen with an established network in Washington, D.C., particularly within healthcare, consumer goods, or trade-related sectors.
Prior experience working for a Chinese or multinational company is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of the U.S. regulatory landscape, especially as it pertains to medical devices, consumables, or consumer health products.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to navigate cross-cultural business environments and represent a Chinese company effectively in the U.S.
Self-motivated, strategic thinker with the ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
Preferred Attributes:
Experience in the medical consumables, consumer health, or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industries.
Familiarity with U.S.-China trade dynamics and experience advocating for international businesses in the U.S. market.
Proven success in helping foreign companies, particularly Chinese enterprises, establish and grow their operations in the United States.
