Department Overview The Children’s Minnesota Genetics/Genomics Department is the only clinical genetics/genomics program in Minnesota exclusively dedicated to the diagnosis and clinical care of pediatric patients and childhood conditions. Our team includes four geneticists, fourteen genetic counselors, three genetic counseling assistants, one clinic nurse, one metabolic dietitian, and two pharmacogenomics pharmacists. The department provides end‑to‑end genetics services and integrates genetic counselors into critical specialty services such as hematology/oncology, cardiology, neonatology, immunology, neurology, and pulmonology. We are expanding our scope of personalized care into pediatric and adolescent care with a nationally recognized pediatric pharmacogenomics program.

Position Summary The successful candidate will build and expand precision medicine in collaboration with our therapeutic and diagnostic services program. They will integrate genomic and other healthcare data into electronic health records for point‑of‑care insights, apply data‑driven strategies to enhance care and reduce costs, advocate for improved payor coverage of pediatric/adolescent genomic testing, and develop educational programs to foster the future potential of precision health in pediatric and adolescent populations.

This position will provide outpatient clinical care and inpatient consultations at Children’s Minnesota’s Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver personalized care to pediatric and adolescent patients.

Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and research projects evaluating our genetics and precision health programs as well as clinical teaching of medical students, residents, and genetic counseling students. Examples include rapid genome sequencing in intensive care settings in collaboration with a large children’s hospital consortium.

The selected individual will bring experience in developing teams in clinical settings, a proven track record of successfully collaborating with clinical and administrative leadership across departmental boundaries, government advocacy experience, and familiarity with integrating research and clinical efforts for discovery and/or healthcare optimization. They will also possess a strong working knowledge of electronic health record development, and expertise in genomics and health record data analysis and utilization.
