Mid-Level Giving Officer Pay Information: $90,000 - $112,500 annually

Position Summary: The Mid-Level Giving Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of current and prospective mid-level members (defined as $1,000-$4,999), including cultivation, solicitation, strategy, stewardship, and data analysis. To expand donor capacity, engagement, and philanthropy, the officer creates opportunities for donors and prospects to become engaged with KQED’s mission and to learn about organizational programs that align with their giving interests. Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Mid-Level Giving, this position also collaborates within the larger Mid-Level and Membership teams, the Development team, and with departments across the organization. The ideal candidate will be curious, independent, and have experience with membership programs, development/fundraising, creating communication strategies, and implementing stewardship. Attention to detail, strong project‑management skills, and experience with CRM systems and databases are key qualities. Strong phone, writing, and mail‑merge skills are critical. Familiarity with moves management, major gifts programs, public media fundraising, and event‑planning is also highly desirable.

Work Location: Hybrid – working between KQED's newly renovated headquarters and remotely.

Responsibilities

Manage a tiered portfolio of roughly 600 current and prospective mid-level members with planned touchpoints, prompt thanking, and timely solicitations, emphasizing donor retention and increased giving.

Develop and achieve revenue goals associated with the portfolio and forecast portfolio revenue.

Maintain relationships with prospective and current mid-level members using multiple channels—phone, email, personal mail, event participation, Zoom, and face‑to‑face meetings—while engaging donors through consistent stewardship and active cultivation to increase member support and enhance the member experience.

Collaborate with the Associate Director to develop and implement analytics on financial trends, key performance indicators (KPIs), and testing successes, ensuring data‑driven decision making for current and future strategy.

Update the ROI Solutions database with donor touchpoints such as notes from calls, member interactions, emails, and new or updated information about members.

Learn about KQED programs and projects and effectively communicate the work and the organization’s mission to donors.

Determine which donors would benefit from more personalization and increased frequency of contact.

Attend and assist with KQED programs, cultivation and stewardship events as needed.

Ensure appropriate and consistent donor‑centric communications in all materials—including solicitation, acknowledgment, stewardship, and customer service; participate in writing, editing, image sourcing, and content approval.

Collaborate within the Mid-Level team, with the Membership and Development teams, and across the organization with Audience Development, Marketing & Communications, and other teams to strengthen the organization and remove silos.

Monitor fundraising trends (especially public media giving trends) and attend webinars, educational sessions, and conferences to identify effective new fundraising approaches and solutions.

Other essential duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum of four years of experience in fundraising/development in the annual fund, mid‑level, or major gift area with at least one year of experience managing a portfolio.

Proven track record of meeting revenue goals and setting budgets.

Proficiency with MS Office and database management; experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and/or Revolution Online (ROI) preferred.

Excellent phone, writing, and editing skills with meticulous attention to detail, copy editing, and experience writing in multiple “voices.”

The individual should be energetic, self‑directed, assertive, flexible, creative, and understanding.

Communication and interpersonal skills at the highest possible level.

Education & Experience Education: Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Years of Experience: 4+ years.
