There is an expectation that the Counselor will be on campus at Roosevelt’s Schaumburg campus, or at an affiliated University Center, 3 days per week.
The Transfer Admission Counselor’s primary responsibility is to guide prospective students and families through the transfer review and application process, which includes meeting with prospective students, families, and school partners to assess academic eligibility, discuss academic offerings, and inform individuals of the Roosevelt student experience. The Transfer Counselor will manage an assigned territory of partner schools, serving as the primary point of contact for assigned school partners.
The Counselor will travel and attend in-person or virtual events to recruit prospective transfer students, and will review applications for admission. The person in this role will also play a pivotal role in the socialization and growth of Roosevelt’s Adult and Continuing Education program, working with faculty and staff to identify and recruit adult students to Roosevelt. Counselors also serve as an initial point of contact for post-admission processes to supplement other offices like Financial Aid Services, Academic Advising, or other student support services to ensure successful matriculation of transfer students.
The salary range for this position is $50,000-52,000 annually.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
A Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
A minimum of 1-year experience working in admissions/enrollment. Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences. Ability to manage relationships both externally and within Roosevelt University.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multicultural environment.
Ability to navigate personal and potentially difficult conversations and situations with care and tact.
Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion when working with prospective students, family and school partners.
Self-starter and ability to prioritize independently.

A minimum of 1-year experience of higher education admission/enrollment management and/or student services or other relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Slate or another CRM.
Experience with Banner or another SIS.
Equipment Operated
Basic office equipment: desktop/laptop computer, copier/ multi-function device, fax, cellphone and landline telephone.
Software systems: CRM (Slate), SIS (Banner), video conferencing (Zoom) and remote communication tool (Microsoft Teams)
Working Conditions: Standard climate and noise controlled office environment. Role is mostly sedentary and requires frequent use of wrists for typing, as well as extended time using computer.
Duty and Responsibility Recruitment and Territory Management
Understands and promotes the programs and services offered that contribute to the value and mission of Roosevelt University.
Identifies, recruits, and admits prospective students in a designated market.
Manages a recruitment territory from inquiry to matriculation.
Executes and evaluates recruitment strategies.
Conducts outreach by email, phone, or virtually with students, parents and school partners.
Participates and/or assists with on-campus recruitment events and visit opportunities including weekend and evening hours.
Relationship Building
Counsels prospective transfer applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the University.
Provides one-on-one and group admissions counseling to diverse populations – admission counseling occurs primarily by in-person or virtual appointments, phone calls, and email.
Communicates requirements, expectations, opportunities and success stories with school partners to help support and identify potential students.
Application Management
Manages the transfer applicant pool for all undergraduate programs in the assigned territory.
Uses CRM (Slate), outreach, and other tools to facilitate application completion.
Thoroughly reviews student credentials in making admission decisions using University guidelines and awarding merit scholarship opportunities. Uses the application and transcripts to evaluate students’ ability to succeed.
Student Guidance
Guides students through the enrollment process, from inquiry or application through matriculation.
Provides guidance and pre-advising to prospective students to determine admissibility, appropriate program, location, and resources.
Informs students of the various offerings and opportunities available while considering students’ abilities and needs to be successful. In some cases, one may need to suggest other opportunities aside from selecting Roosevelt University if the decision is not beneficial to the student. This could include suggesting attendance at a community college or additional coursework at a previous 4-year institution.
Assists students with accessing and understanding general post-admission information and processes like financial aid, residence life, advising and student support services.
