Overview
MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Inc. seeks a talented Informatica Developer to join our Application Development & Support team. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining complex software for new applications and production support of existing systems while supporting key departmental initiatives.
The position may focus on one of the following areas: IT Finance, Government Programs & Services, Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Exchange, Formulary Master Process, Pharmacy Network, Performance Engineering, Portals, or Formulary Process Automation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced Oracle PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain ETL workflows using Informatica PowerCenter, Informatica Cloud, or similar ETL tools.
- Build and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts for data automation, monitoring, and job scheduling.
- Gain a thorough understanding of functional requirements for new software requests.
- Collaborate with Business Systems Analysts to clarify software requirements and translate them into working software.
- Design, develop, and test software to meet functional requirements.
- Apply good software engineering techniques and standards to reduce coding errors and ensure robustness and efficiency.
- Partner with the software team in developing engineering processes and best practices.
- Identify and resolve technical or product problems.
- Participate in software project meetings and provide status reports.
- Translate technical designs into working software.
- Maintain existing applications by enhancing software and troubleshooting issues.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure successful completion of assigned tasks.
- Ensure data quality, performance, and scalability of ETL processes and database solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, release management, and process improvement efforts; troubleshoot complex SQL/PLSQL issues, including performance tuning, query optimization, and execution plan analysis.
- Contribute to best practices, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Apply software engineering and Object‑Oriented Design principles in creating UML diagrams and technical design documents.
- Ensure component design aligns with overall solution architecture.
- Adopt new techniques and technologies.
- Initiate attendance at job‑related training to keep skills current.
- Assist with mentoring and training of less experienced IT staff members.

Client Responsibilities
This is an internal and external client‑facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening, verbal, written). Qualifications
Education and Experience
BS/BA and 6+ years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, and 2 years of subject‑matter expertise in relevant areas.
Computer Skills
- 6+ years of experience in developing database processes using Oracle SQL/PLSQL in Oracle 12c and Unix shell scripting.
- 4+ years of experience with Informatica or similar ETL/data integration platforms.
- Hands‑on experience with PowerCenter Mapplets, Mappings, Workflows, Applications or similar tools.
- Strong ETL and data modelling experience, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL, advanced SQL, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with job scheduling tools such as UC4, Control‑M, AutoSys, or similar.
- Excellent knowledge of debugging, tuning, and optimizing database query performance.
- Strong experience with Unix/Linux shell scripting for ETL orchestration and automation; solid understanding of relational databases, data warehousing concepts, and batch/real‑time integration patterns.
- Thorough knowledge of software methodologies, distributed networking, databases, communications, and multiprocessing applications.
- Strong proficiency in database interfacing and relational database management systems.
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, communication skills; collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

Physical Demands
Employee must regularly sit and talk or hear; stand, walk, use hands and arms; occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
Position may encounter moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock or vibration. Noise level is usually moderate (e.g., business office). Remote work is not an option.
Work Location
On‑site at the San Diego Headquarters. Must be available for face‑to‑face interactions and coordination with staff, clients, and vendors.
Working Hours
Exempt position requiring flexibility. Core business hours: Monday‑Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. May work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.
Travel
No travel required; occasional attendance at local conferences and meetings may be necessary.
