Position Summary
VIZIO/Walmart is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Android Engineer to join our Mobile Engineering team, building cutting‑edge mobile applications that power the VIZIO experience across smartphones and tablets. You’ll work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver high‑performance, user‑centric features using modern Android technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and MVVM architecture.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
- Write clean, scalable, and testable code following best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and mentor junior developers.
- Integrate with backend services and SDKs, including VIZIO’s proprietary APIs and HubSDK.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and app infrastructure improvements.
- Stay current with the latest Android development trends and advocate for their adoption.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of professional Android development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android frameworks.
- Hands‑on experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and Android Architecture Components.
- Deep understanding of MVVM, dependency injection (e.g., Hilt/Dagger), and reactive programming.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and third‑party SDK integrations.
- Familiarity with tools like Git, Gradle, Android Studio, and CI/CD systems.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on media or streaming apps.
- Familiarity with multi‑module architecture and Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM).
- Knowledge of accessibility, localization, and performance optimization.
- Experience with Firebase, analytics, and crash reporting tools.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.

Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
