There are also Research and Extension offices in Lonoke, Newport and Lake Village and collaborations with other colleges and universities in the State through the National Science Foundation funded STEM Academy.

Department Department: Arts and Sciences
Summary of Job Duties The Chairperson of the Department of English, Humanities, and Foreign Languages will schedule courses for the department, manage the department’s budgets, conduct departmental meetings, encourage faculty research and grant opportunities, assess student achievement and faculty performance, mediate student academic concerns, ensure quality academic advising, provide leadership in student recruitment and retention, assist the university and the School of Education in accreditation efforts, demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of a diverse faculty and student body, and clearly articulate university policy and departmental visions, goals, accomplishments, and needs. The chair will also be expected to teach courses during the Fall and Spring semesters.
Qualifications Ph.D. in English, American or Comparative literature; five years teaching experience in higher education; evidence of research, publication, and other scholarly activities; a commitment to excellence in teaching and achieving student success; a personal concern for quality academic advising. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead faculty and deal with faculty/student complaints, and the ability to manage the department’s classes and budgets.
Additional Information Salary Information: $75,000 - $90,000
