Location:
215 Elm St, Old Saybrook, CT 10563.
Shift:
Mon‑Fri. 40 hours per week.
In collaboration with attending surgeons, this role delivers skilled health care across diverse clinical settings and supports the clinical management of patients by working closely with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the health care team. Responsibilities include applying the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, addressing actual or potential surgical needs in accordance with established practices, standards, protocols, and guidelines.
Job Responsibilities
Provides direct patient care in office consultations, including assessment, workups, triage, emergency work-ins, and other patient care activities.
Obtains and documents health history, performs and documents physical exam, and orders and interprets diagnostic tests.
Provides counseling to patients regarding diagnosis and expected course of treatment.
Obtains consent for Smart pill and Manometry procedures.
Scrubs MD scheduled to add follow ups.
IT liaison for MMC and SVMC e.g., missing studies and shared drive issues.
Attends staff meetings on Motility Orders Workflow e.g., outside referrals/orders placed incorrectly.
Manages triaged inbox messages e.g., medication refills.
Reads and interprets breath tests.
Provides education for Motility Spreadsheet.
Attends weekly meetings with MDs to discuss complex patients.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in nursing.
National Certification in Advanced Practice and current CPR certification.
Current State of CT APRN license with prescriptive authority and current DEA number; 100% attendance to maintain annual mandatory skill updates.
2 years of experience in general surgery/colorectal surgery, ambulatory surgery or acute care setting for surgical care preferred.
Excellent clinical management skills and proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take lead when appropriate.
