We are seeking a Technical Manager with a senior‑level engineering background and proven leadership experience. This role combines technical expertise, operational oversight, and team leadership to ensure system reliability, process improvement, and successful project delivery. You will oversee a broad and diverse portfolio of initiatives.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock Technical Ability
Provide expert guidance on engineering design, development, and implementation.
Ensure adherence to industry standards, safety regulations, and quality processes.
Participate in annual DR testing and maintain recovery plans/scripts.
Monitor system health, respond to production issues, and prioritize incidents.
Ensure all technical documentation aligns with ITSM standards and audit requirements.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Manage subordinates, including career advancement and annual activities.
Build and maintain strong business team relationships.
Project & Delivery Management
Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units to resolve issues and align priorities.
Coordinate resource sharing and joint initiatives with other leaders to optimize team performance.
Oversee end‑to‑end project execution, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
Stakeholder Communication
Establish trust and clear communication with business stakeholders to understand priorities and deliver solutions.
Ensure team objectives support organizational goals and communicate progress to stakeholders regularly.
Process & Quality Improvement
Manage approvals, documentation, and communication for technical impacts.
Recommend process improvements, ensure adherence to best practices, and implement alterations that enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
Budget & Resource Planning
Prepare ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) estimates with key assumptions, risks, and confidence levels.
Communicate ROM ranges clearly to stakeholders for informed decision‑making.
Support prioritization of demands based on ROM size and strategic impact.
Preferred Attributes

Strong business acumen and ability to align technical initiatives with organizational goals.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s in Computer Science, Electrical, or related engineering.
8+ years of engineering experience (preferred Microsoft stack) with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Proven track record in leading technical teams and managing large‑scale projects.
ITSM tools (ServiceNow), disaster recovery planning, incident management.
Strong technical acumen with hands‑on experience in engineering systems.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
