Vice President of Information Technology (VP of IT)

The Opportunity

VFCU is seeking a strategic, hands‑on Vice President of Information Technology to lead the next chapter of our technology evolution. This role is a key enterprise leader—partnering closely with the CIO and executive team to shape and deliver a multi‑year technology roadmap that strengthens cybersecurity, modernizes infrastructure and systems, and elevates both member and employee experience.

What You’ll Lead Strategic Technology Leadership

Co-create and execute VFCU’s multi‑year IT and digital transformation strategy aligned to organizational goals and member needs.

Translate business priorities into clear technology roadmaps, initiatives, and budgets.

Track emerging technologies and trends in credit unions/banking to recommend solutions that improve security, service, efficiency, or growth.

Technology Operations & Service Delivery

Oversee day‑to‑day IT operations including infrastructure, networks, endpoints, productivity platforms, and member‑facing systems.

Ensure high availability and scalability of critical services like core banking integrations, digital banking platforms, and branch/contact‑center technology.

Drive strong IT service management practices and SLAs, with clear KPIs reported to executives and the board.

Lead enterprise cybersecurity posture: threat detection, IAM, vulnerability management, and security awareness.

Ensure compliance with NCUA, GLBA, FFIEC, and other applicable standards.

Own business continuity and disaster recovery planning/testing for IT systems.

Sponsor and lead major cross‑functional programs such as cloud modernization, digital banking enhancements, automation, data/analytics enablement, and system upgrades.

Establish project governance, prioritization frameworks, and delivery standards to ensure predictable outcomes.

Communicate progress, risks, and decisions clearly across stakeholders.

Manage strategic vendor and fintech partnerships across hardware, software, and managed services.

Lead budgeting, forecasting, contract negotiations, and ROI discipline for technology investments.

Ensure lifecycle management of applications and infrastructure.

Lead, mentor, and develop IT managers and staff, building a high‑performing, modern IT organization.

Foster a service‑oriented, member‑centric IT culture that collaborates effectively across departments.

Support recruiting and succession planning for long‑term team strength.

What You Bring Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, MIS, or related field (or equivalent experience).

8–10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including teams, budgets, and enterprise systems.

Demonstrated success leading modernization/digital transformation initiatives.

Strong knowledge of cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance in regulated environments.

Proven ability to manage complex vendor ecosystems and negotiate contracts.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree (MBA, MIS, Cybersecurity, or related).

Financial services or credit union experience.

Familiarity with core banking environments, digital banking platforms, fintech integrations, and APIs.

Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, ITIL, PMP, or cloud credentials.
