Description Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems invites an experienced professional to join our Global Supply Chain team as a Principal Supply Chain Subcontract Specialist. In this role, you will source and procure complex, specialized goods and services, manage contractual relationships with suppliers, and ensure successful delivery of U.S. Government programs.
About The Role Source and procure specialized goods and services. Own contractual management across the entire lifecycle—subcontract sourcing, proposal evaluation, negotiation, award, execution, administration, and closeout. Coordinate with legal, contracts, finance, planning, operations, program management, engineering, and quality stakeholders to monitor and manage schedule, cost, technical, and quality performance of suppliers. Engage supplier leadership to motivate and drive excellence.
Essential Functions
Subcontract sourcing, proposal evaluation, negotiation, award, execution, administration, and closeout
Manage supplier performance throughout the subcontracting lifecycle
Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, public law, and company policies
Identify cost‑reduction, efficiency, and risk‑management strategies through strategic negotiations
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders
Contribute to program risk and opportunity management
Act as a self‑starter with a bias toward action and problem‑solving
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Apply process tools such as Lean Six Sigma to drive quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with at least 5 years of experience, Master’s degree with at least 3 years of experience, or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree
Experience in Subcontracts Management, Contracts Management, Proposal Price/Cost Analysis, Procurement, Program or Project Management, Advanced Planning/MRP, or Strategic Sourcing
Proficiency with SAP, MRP, or related business application software
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance within a reasonable timeframe
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree
Familiarity with FAR and DFARS regulations
Supplier selection/management experience on U.S. Government contracts
Subcontracting experience with aircraft production and/or sustainment programs
Experience in a government‑approved purchasing system
Experience in foreign subcontracts and/or ITAR/EAR regulations
Knowledge of NGAS Subcontracting terms and conditions
Salary & Benefits Primary Level Salary Range:
$91,200.00 – $136,800.00
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Departments such as Vice President or Director may qualify for long‑term incentives. Northrop Grumman offers health insurance, life and disability coverage, a savings plan, paid holidays, and PTO for vacation and personal business.
