Tax Director – Insurance
Location: Washington, United States
Base pay range: $180,000 – $200,000 per year
About the Role The Tax Strategy Director provides expert tax guidance on complex transactions and strategic initiatives across federal, state, and international jurisdictions. The role partners with cross‑functional teams to assess tax impacts, support implementation, and enhance tax and financial modeling.
Key Responsibilities
Advise on tax implications of major business initiatives across U.S. and international jurisdictions.
Review and interpret transaction documents and treaties.
Prepare tax accounting memos and supporting documentation.
Support tax operations in executing transactions and strategies.
Improve tax modeling for GAAP, statutory, Bermuda regulatory, cash flow, and management reporting.
Monitor tax law changes and communicate updates to leadership.
Model and implement impacts of new legislation.
Identify tax planning opportunities, including DTA valuation allowance considerations.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
10–15 years of tax experience, including 10+ in insurance or reinsurance.
Strong knowledge of U.S. insurance taxation and statutory accounting.
Familiarity with Bermuda tax and OECD Pillar Two preferred.
Expertise in U.S. and international tax laws for insurance groups.
Ability to analyze complex financial information and provide clear recommendations.
Skilled in reviewing transaction documents and treaties.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Effective time‑management in a fast‑paced environment.
Advanced Excel, Word, tax software, and research tool proficiency.
CPA, MBA, or FSA preferred; experience with sidecars and Bermuda reinsurance is a plus.
