McCormick Taylor has an immediate opening for a Senior Site Civil Engineer to join our Energy/Utilities group. This position is primarily remote, but the candidate will be expected to report to McCormick Taylor’s office occasionally. Experience in Site Design, Grading, Water Resources, Erosion & Sediment Control, and Local/State/Federal Permitting in MD/DE/PA/VA/NJ is preferred. Strong written, interpersonal and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to organize are required. Responsibilities
Enthusiastic and dependable leader with a passion for growth Manage various engineering tasks with an understanding of hydrology/hydraulics, grading, soil properties, and construction practices Strong expertise in site grading, erosion and sediment control design, drafting, plan preparation, and report writing Develop expertise with constructability principles, specification writing and cost estimating Lead plan development, specifications, estimates and client coordination Understand local, state and federal regulations and how to interpret engineering plans Lead with an established career and diversified knowledge in site design principles and practices including constructability reviews, stormwater management design and inspections, site grading, soils management, erosion and sediment control, construction phasing, permitting, CADD principles and standards, plan/permit development and applications, subconsultant management, and report and specification writing Provide oversight for documentation and reporting of complex field‑work assessments and/or client/agency meetings, including management of data and/or notes Coordinate and assist with all staff necessary to deliver quality projects in accordance with accepted schedule and budget Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to work in a fast‑paced team environment Assist upper management and staff by serving as a technical specialist or advisor Support the technical aspects of a team Receive instruction on unconventional or complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria Responsible for technical accuracy and QA/QC of work Assign tasks to, coordinate work, and mentor supporting staff Assist with managing workload and staffing needs Provide hours, schedule, and scope for technical aspects of assignments in field of work Active involvement with the development of technical and cost proposals Represent the organization in communication and conferences pertaining to specific aspects of projects or programs Understands and embraces relationship building and culture elements of company Possess well‑established client relationships and continue to identify and recruit new ones, leading to procurement of work Facilitate regular coordination with clients Identify, develop, and strengthen key client relationships Active involvement with clients and business development, including writing proposals Assist with employee reviews (for those with direct reports) Qualifications
8–12+ years of experience preferred B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering Technical and field experience preferred in civil infrastructure (utility, transmission, substation, transit, roadway, bridge) Knowledge of local site development and environmental regulations is preferred Strong written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to organize are required Previous experience collaborating with team members virtually is preferred Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, MicroStation, InRoads, Flow Master, HEC‑RAS, TR‑20, TR‑55, GIS Hydro
