Position Title: Maintenance Technician 2nd Class

Position Summary
As a member of the Facilities department you will help to ensure that REHAB patients and their families receive caring and dedicated service at REHAB. You will be a Maintenance Technician 2nd Class and assist with a variety of services. These services include general maintenance tasks, including repairing and maintaining buildings, equipment, systems and grounds. You will complete minor construction projects and skilled trade installations within scope of training and experience with a commitment to delivering high-quality, comprehensive and innovative inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services.
Starting Wage: $28.45/hour.
The posted wage is the current starting wage for this position. Actual wage is dependent on the applicant’s relevant experience and qualifications for this position. The wage range for this position may be subject to change in the future depending on a variety of factors such as market conditions, business needs, legal developments, and other appropriate factors.
Required Qualifications
Certification/Licensure:
Valid State driver’s license
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent. In lieu of High School graduate or equivalent and one (1) to two (2) years of Vocational Trade School education
Skills/Experience:
Two (2) years of combined experience in application of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and building controls systems.
Three (3) to four (4) years of building trade experience.
Two (2) years of general building maintenance experience using power equipment and hand tools.
Problem solving, organizational skills and ability to work independently and part of the team.
Customer service and effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification/Licensure:
Current State of Hawaii driver’s license.
Education:
Four (4) years of Vocational Trade School education.
Skills/Experience:
Four (4) years building construction or utilities trade experience.
Previous plant operations experience in a healthcare setting.
One (1) year of supervisory experience.

Essential Functions
Completes requisitions, work orders and other department forms, as required to ensure timely repairs and replaces fixtures, systems and equipment throughout the hospital, its grounds and its off-site clinics and completes daily work logs.
Performs preventive maintenance on the hospital plant and equipment, as scheduled and completes required documentation of preventative maintenance and repairs into the hospital’s tracking software.
Uses knowledge and training in servicing air handlers/chillers, cooling towers, electrical distribution, emergency power, fire protection systems , domestic water line fixtures and connections, water heaters, and swimming pool treatment systems in conducting routine and emergency maintenance and repair.
Performs troubleshooting, diagnosis, basic maintenance, and servicing of machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operational manuals and manufactures specifications, with hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing equipment. Maintains the work area and equipment to be clean and organized.
Duplicates keys and repairs locks in support of security requirements.
Prepares and installs signage for informational, directional, and warning purposes.
Assembles, disassembles, sets-up, arranges, transfers and stores furnishings, equipment, materials and supplies including lifting and fabrication.
Performs minor construction work including light to medium excavation, mixing and application of cement, plaster, concrete, sealers, adhesives, paints, etc.
Keeps Maintenance Technicians (Lead) and/or Manager/Director of Facilities informed of customer feedback, need for corrective action, and problems or delays in meeting deadlines and completion dates.
Assists security, grounds and /or other staff members, participates in performance improvement activities and operates and drives vehicles and operates motorized equipment, as required
Works a rotating schedule to include but not limited to Days, Evenings, Nights, Holidays, and Weekends. Participates in a rotating after hours on-call rotation.
Uses sound judgment and ensures patient safety.
Follows and adheres to all organizational and departmental policies and guidelines, code of conduct, and REHAB employee handbook.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Google’s G Suite, report writer and database software.
