Description The Department of Biology welcomes applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in Microbiology. We seek a microbiologist whose research focuses on non‑pathogenic bacterial model systems, employing classical microbiology and molecular tools to investigate microbial cell structure, biochemistry, genetic mechanisms, or physiology.
Responsibilities
Teach lecture and laboratory courses in microbiology, introductory molecular/cell biology, and upper‑level courses that complement current offerings.
Establish and maintain an externally‑funded research program that complements departmental needs and is accessible to undergraduate and master’s research students.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in microbiology, biology, or a closely related discipline.
Postdoctoral research experience in microbiology and a well‑developed research plan.
Experience teaching undergraduate biology courses as instructor of record.
Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience in microbiology.
Experience teaching lecture and laboratory introductory biology courses as instructor of record.
Experience applying active‑learning or student‑centered pedagogy.
Expertise in combining classical bacteriology and bioinformatics in research.
Experience collaborating in a coordinated teaching environment for multi‑section courses.
