Position Overview The Senior Estimator leads the estimating process for commercial metal framing and drywall projects, ensuring accurate, competitive, and timely bids. This role requires strong technical knowledge, analytical skills, and cross‑department collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for metal framing, drywall, acoustic ceilings, and related scopes.
Develop accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor estimates for negotiated and competitive bids.
Analyze drawings, specifications, addenda, codes, and engineered conditions.
Lead pre‑bid planning, site visits, RFIs, and proposal development.
Provide value engineering options and cost‑saving solutions.
Maintain estimating databases, production rates, and historical pricing.
Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Division leadership to align estimates with field capabilities.
Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, GCs, and clients.
Mentor junior estimators and support team development.
Qualifications
5–10+ years of commercial metal framing and drywall estimating experience.
Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specs, codes, UL systems, and engineered designs.
Proficient with estimating/takeoff software (On Center/Quick Bid or The Edge).
Excellent math, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Able to work independently and with cross‑functional teams.
