Supervisor – Operations

Location: Carlsbad, NM Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision, performs tasks required for efficient operation of all functions in natural gas compressor station, including reciprocating and electrical horsepower, reciprocating compressors and other functions, systems, and equipment. Responsible for ensuring proper flows, temperatures, pressures, and levels. Recognizes operating deviations and takes appropriate corrective action. Ability to operate compressor station using a PLC control system. Recognize equipment abnormalities and communicate with maintenance regarding significant repairs. Responsible for recording parameter values, completing operating reports, notifying of environmental deviations, and equipment lockout/tag‑out for maintenance and repair. Performs other duties as assigned. Effective written and verbal communication. Significant mechanical aptitude. Ability to read, comprehend, and apply information in operating and equipment manuals. Physical capabilities of standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders and stairs, stretching, reaching over shoulder height, and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Monitor operations daily to maximize efficiency. Plan and schedule work for employees. Purchase materials for field operations. Monitor operating expenses and enforce cost control. Build and maintain capital and expense budgets. Train and develop skills of existing and new employees. Prepare regularly scheduled reports of operations. Develop and implement operating procedures. Attend safety meetings and act as an active leader in safety programs. Comply with company policies concerning regulatory compliance. Participate in company provided training. Must possess people skills. Ability to delegate duties and assignments. Education And/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

High School Diploma or GED. 8 years’ general experience in the oil/gas industry. Experience in reciprocating compressors. Experience in transportation pipeline operations. Experience with DOT part 192. Basic computer skills with emphasis in Microsoft Office. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Take call to relieve other employees as needed. Preferred Skills

Experience as supervisor/lead. 10+ years’ experience in gas compression and pipeline operations. Working Conditions

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Usually, normal office working conditions. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing. Occasional overnight travel may be required. Position is based in industrial/manufacturing settings which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, extreme temperature conditions, loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
