Auto Property Damage Director Location: Oak Brook, IL Salary: $54,750.00–$97,500.00
The Auto Property Damage Director is responsible for oversight of the overall productivity and personnel of an Auto Property Damage Unit. The scope of the position includes ensuring compliance with state‑mandated claims handling guidelines, understanding of policy language and coverages, as well as assuring proper investigation and conclusion of claims. The position also includes monitoring production, staff development, and the quality of files assigned to the unit.
Responsibilities
Lead, motivate, and provide direction to the unit auto adjusters
Conduct file and diary reviews to monitor adjuster work and ensure appropriate documentation, fair claim settlement practices, and company quality standards
Place appropriate authority level on claim files based upon coverage determination, investigation of facts, and approve settlement checks within authority
Review reports and support the implementation of procedures to improve overall claim settlement process, customer service levels, and maintain desired quality and quantity levels
Oversee implementation and monitoring of procedures to assure effectiveness and compliance
Determine training needs of the department/unit, establish and participate in programs to ensure training needs of personnel and processes are met
Identify systems issues/concerns and make suggestions for enhancements
Manage the administrative functions of the unit, including reviewing new losses, setting performance objectives, conducting performance appraisals, daily review of files for payment approvals over adjuster authority, conducting one‑on‑one and unit meetings, reviewing and directing claim activity for Department of Insurance inquiries and customer inquiries, and ensuring compliance and customer service regulations/initiatives are met
Qualifications Required
5+ years auto liability property damage claims experience
3+ years supervising/ managing auto claims adjusters
Strong technical and administrative background in auto claims handling
Ability to work independently on technical and administrative matters in accordance with company policy and procedures
Background in personnel selection, goal setting, monitoring and communicating performance
Good leadership, training and development skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to pass written examinations required by state statutes to become a licensed claim adjuster/supervisor
Non‑standard experience a plus but not required
Fluent in Spanish is a plus but not required
