Job Profile Summary This role focuses on performing work related to research and development of new products, innovation, and improvement of products and processes. It also involves supporting the development of new products and innovation, including clinical roles focused on research projects. Positions in this family perform basic, translational, and/or clinical research towards solving a specific problem for an entity or community. This professional individual‑contributor role may direct the work of other lower‑level professionals or manage processes and programs. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation, or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialised knowledge typically acquired through advanced education. It is a specialist level role that is a recognised subject‑matter expert in the job area, typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. It typically manages large projects or processes with limited oversight from a manager, coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower‑level professionals, and resolving difficult and often complex problems.
Job Overview This position oversees and coordinates data analysis and data management for clinical investigators. It provides analytic, programming, and data coordination support for researchers, grants, and research projects. Activities include the development and implementation of research databases, data coordination, and analytic plans. The role works with the principal investigator in the development of protocols and study plans, oversees data management and coordination, and supervises the data analysis process. It also involves training new researchers in research methodologies, coordination of research activities, and the application of advanced programming and statistical methods.
Minimum Qualifications
Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field.
Six (6) years of experience in a medical research environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in computer programming, managing, and analysing large databases and data sets.
Experience with SAS or R programming, and other relevant statistical analysis tools.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides leadership to a research project in the development and implementation of data management and analytic plans.
Collaborates significantly in development of grants and provides leadership in their implementation.
Collaborates on original research that demonstrates the development or application of new research methodologies.
Provides leadership in organising or administering research components.
Assists with teaching and mentoring of clinical researchers.
Directly manages and supervises staff: writes and/or contributes to performance evaluations.
Participates in the general statistical work of the Department including attending weekly research meetings and meetings with other staff statisticians.
Participates in the development of courses and seminars.
Actively participates in research seminars and lectures.
Physical Requirements
Normal office environment.
Frequent typing/computer keying.
Skills & Abilities
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and familiarity with databases (e.g., experience using MS Access).
Analytical skills to appropriately develop and modify complex tests, reviewing of tests, and interpretation of findings.
Ability to be meticulous and detail‑oriented.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to handle competing demands in order to meet project timelines.
Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team environment.
Ability to multi‑task and prioritise responsibilities as needed.
Clinical or scientific knowledge and techniques relevant to area of research.
Demonstrated care in following procedures and diligence in record‑keeping.
Ability to communicate with peers as well as researchers.
Pay Range $77,333.26 - $98,603.60
