Job Title Project Engineer

Job Description The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and operation of PFAS destruction systems, including pilot and commercial‑scale projects. This role is crucial in project execution, equipment specification, and process development, ensuring that UV‑PFAS destruction technology meets client and regulatory requirements. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and external partners to deliver safe, efficient, and high‑quality solutions that align with the mission of enabling sustainable and responsible PFAS management.

Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate multiple client pilot/commercial projects from design through delivery, ensuring alignment with project plans, schedules, and budgets.

Oversee fabrication, testing, and installation of PFAS destruction systems and equipment.

Ensure project deliverables meet scope, schedule, and quality requirements.

Teach, mentor, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.

Participate in client meetings, providing technical updates and interpretation of results.

Protect proprietary information and intellectual property through adherence to confidentiality and documentation procedures.

Perform process mass and energy balances and develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

Specify and select appropriate equipment, instruments, and piping components.

Conduct bid comparisons and vendor evaluations for equipment procurement.

Support and execute experimental testing and performance evaluations for PFAS destruction technology.

Evaluate pilot data and recommend process adjustments or design optimizations.

Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including drawings, specifications, test reports, and change records.

Contribute to the development and standardization of engineering documentation and project control systems.

Support trade show or conference participation as a technical representative.

Assist with proposal preparation, cost estimation, and technical writing for customer quotations.

Participate in safety program initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

Essential Skills

Project management and ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Strong understanding of water/wastewater treatment principles and water chemistry.

Proficiency in developing PFDs and P&IDs using AutoCAD or similar software.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical writing skills.

Effective communication and teamwork skills across cross‑functional groups.

Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving project needs.

Understanding of engineering standards and safety practices (ASME, ASTM, ANSI, UL, CE, CSA, International Codes).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

5+ years of relevant experience in project engineering, process design, or pilot system execution within water treatment, chemical, or environmental technology.

Experience at customer sites is preferred.

Experience with industrial controls, instrumentation, or data acquisition systems is a plus.

Working knowledge or willingness to learn technical standards outside of primary discipline.

Work Environment The work environment includes both office and laboratory/pilot plant settings. Travel to customer sites or vendor facilities may be required, up to approximately 25% domestically and internationally. The role may involve exposure to chemicals, pressurized systems, and UV light sources in controlled conditions. Standard business hours apply, with flexibility for project testing and field schedules as needed.

Job Type & Location Contract to Hire, Minneapolis, MN.
