Principal Mission / Systems Engineer
– Collins Aerospace – Salt Lake City, UT.
This onsite role is located at 1128 W 2400 South, Salt Lake City, UT. The position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
What You Will Do
Work with senior R&D members on system development and deployments supporting national security missions.
Generate briefings and present technical material to team members, customers, and management.
Contribute to decision‑making and generate innovative ideas to improve product performance.
Travel up to 25% as required.
Qualifications You Must Have
Degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
Experience in systems engineering, including design, development, testing, and integration of complex hardware and software systems.
Ability to resolve development discrepancies and issues with cross‑functional teams.
Experience analyzing and solving problems across all phases of the system lifecycle.
Proficiency with Linux and/or Linux variants.
Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills.
Capability to recognize improvement opportunities and communicate them to senior staff.
Experience working with customers, end users, hardware design teams, and software design teams.
Willingness to work weekends and nights periodically to support integration and testing efforts.
Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph upon start.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with fiber‑optic, RF, or telecommunications standards and processing techniques.
Experience designing, developing, integrating, and testing complex communication systems.
Experience developing high‑speed processing hardware or advanced control software.
Experience creating and delivering training courses.
Understanding of telecommunications concepts and signal‑processing fundamentals.
Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
Experience generating automated test scripts for integration testing.
Experience formalizing requirements, plans, and procedures based on customer interactions.
Experience with bid and proposal activities related to system development.
Existing TS/SCI clearance (current within the last 24 months).
