Qualifications
Approximately six (6) years of experience for Associate positions; approximately twelve (12) years for Senior positions, demonstrating increasing responsibility in transportation or transit construction projects in disciplines including utilities, geotechnical, civil, structural, electrical, duct bank, communications, and trackwork. Approximately five (5) years' experience for Senior positions, inspecting, constructing, installing, repairing, and maintaining rail, ballasted trackwork, and related facilities. ICC Special Inspector Certificates (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Structural Steel, Bolting) comparable to the Deputy Inspection License for city/county agencies, AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), ASNT NDT Level II, NACE Coating Inspector certifications. NICET or other ICC national certifications highly desirable for relevant trades. Cal-OSHA/OSHA 30-hour training certification. Duties include, but are not limited to
Inspect each stage of construction through completion. Interpret plans, specifications, and codes, and verify that contract work complies with all applicable governing codes and regulations. Monitor construction sites for safety violations. Prepare Non-Conformance Reports when work does not meet approved standards. Maintain daily activity logs and reports with photographs, as agreed upon by Metro before work. Review or prepare interim progress reports for contractor payments. Monitor contractor testing activities. Prepare reports on labor, material, and equipment on site. Confirm construction conforms to plans and specifications. Conduct quality surveillance of specific activities as necessary. Assist in maintaining and promoting a safe work environment while complying with Metro's safety rules and policies, and procedures. Provide Construction Safety and Security field services as directed, including Site Safety and Security Reviews covering equipment, personnel, work procedures, and traffic control. Coordinate preparation and timely submittal of inspection survey reports, cost estimates, and maintenance records. Arrange, coordinate, and oversee technical inspections such as electrical, landscaping, soil testing, concrete, asphalt mixes, and reinforcing steel for specification compliance. Assist the Geotechnical Engineer or the Engineering Management Support Services Contractor with collection, interpretation, analysis, and presentation of geotechnical and survey data monitoring data. Coordinate Metro Test Laboratory activities and compare verification test results with contractor laboratory results. May allocate inspection resources and supervise inspectors qualified to perform the above duties. Seniority level
