Electrical Specialist Job Description

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing electrical systems and equipment such as motors, transformers, wiring, switches, and alarm systems used for the distribution and utilization of electrical energy in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

Repair, maintain, troubleshoot, and install electrical systems and equipment such as motors, transformers, wiring, switches, fuses, and alarm systems in accordance with applicable building codes.

Repair electrical problems with building equipment and wiring, including air compressors, A/C compressors, boilers, air handlers, machine tools, and pumps. Measure resistance, voltage, and amperage.

Measure, cut, bend, and install conduit and pull wire.

Perform new construction, layouts, fabrication, and wiring of panel and circuit boards, including drawing properly sized materials from stock.

Install and maintain access control systems, including card readers, gate operators, intercoms, and cameras. Develop circuits for special applications.

Operate, maintain, update, and repair the computerized Energy Management Control System.

Assist in the installation of alarm systems, CCTV monitors, cameras, pan/tilt/zoom controls, and access control systems.

Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company.

Work safely in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Manage service requests through the SAP system.

Essential Skills

Minimum High School diploma.

Minimum of 5 years experience as a Service Electrician, ideally within Construction or Tenant Improvements. Will consider less experience with a completed Trade school or technical degree.

Experience within commercial properties.

Experience with 208 /120 Voltage.

Considerable understanding of electrical principles, theories, and concepts.

Complete knowledge of building and electrical codes, safety regulations, and local construction industry practices.

Proficient use of electrical hand tools and voltage or amperage measuring and recording devices.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts, and other mechanical drawings.

Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately document and report information while giving direction to less experienced staff.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Ability to work extended hours as required.

Valid Driver's license with minimal infractions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Journeyman license preferred.

Work Environment The work schedule is from 5:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The role involves splitting time between the Torrey Pines facility (60%) and the Rancho Bernardo facility (40%).

Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $42.00/hr.
