Job Summary This position is responsible for representing clients in all areas of insurance defense practice, managing cases that are primarily moderate to high complexity and exposure or involve unique insurance defense issues. The attorney handles all phases of the case from intake through resolution.
Essential Job Functions
Litigate moderate to high complexity cases, performing duties from intake to trial or settlement.
Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
Act as the lead attorney at hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
Develop strategies and arguments to thoroughly prepare for trial.
Utilize knowledge of legal precedents to analyze probable case outcomes.
Identify strengths and weaknesses of proposed approaches.
Ensure completion of any other necessary tasks for client representation.
Consult with the Claims Executive team and recommend legal strategies for personal injury claims.
Provide guidance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Interpret applicable industry laws, rulings, and regulations.
Supervise attorneys assisting with cases as development opportunities.
Provide mentorship while learning autonomously.
Physical Actions Work is performed both in-person at a Farmers office or virtually at an approved location. Typical duties include sitting or standing for prolonged periods, occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds, and navigating office environments. Travel between offices, alternative work locations, and field sites may be required.
Physical Environment Work is normally conducted in a climate‑controlled office with occasional outdoor exposure and travel by automobile or commercial transportation.
Education Requirements Bachelor's degree preferred; lawyer license in applicable states required upon hire.
Experience Requirements
Seven years of litigation experience.
Experience in insurance defense, personal injury, and/or jury trial.
First and second chair trial experience in bodily injury litigation strongly preferred.
Multistate jurisdictional practice preferred.
Special Skill Requirement
Public speaking.
Ability to function and handle high case loads in adversarial situations.
Driving for travel.

Excellent written and verbal communication, including commanding the attention of an audience.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Genuine interest in defense of insurance regulations.
