Role Overview The Plant VTIS Systems Manager is a critical role providing daily oversight and mid‑term strategic planning for the processing and fluid‑intake areas of the plant. This position mentors, leads, and plans resources for all shifts, supporting the Processing Department to ensure projects are completed, problems are resolved, data is obtained and distributed, and operations are streamlined and efficient.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Active involvement and engagement in all Safety programs, audits, and policies.
Responsible for coordinating daily Processing activities to meet business objectives, including receiving bay activities, HTST, and VTIS operations (ESL and Aseptic).
Ensure successful attainment of production objectives, implementation of policies, and effective utilization of resources and facilities.
Work closely with the Technical Training department for SOP creation, sign‑off and training; lead VTIS training courses at the facility.
Manage departmental performance measures, KPIs and objectives, and provide regular progress reports to the Processing Director.
Ensure compliance with all legal requirements concerning dairy processing, environmental, safety, and employee working conditions.
Maintain PMO compliance by working directly with NYSAM to facilitate required inspections, equipment testing and new equipment applications.
Maintain effective communication and procedural alignment between shifts and departments to ensure continuity and consistency of plant goals and SOP execution.
Conduct production planning and scheduling; coordinate with customer service and forecasting replenishment groups to ensure safe, timely production of quality products.
Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering to ensure required access to equipment for projects and preventive maintenance, and maintain PM completion rates for the Processing group.
Work with the team to identify and resolve product loss issues, downtime causes, and safety concerns.
Perform all other duties assigned by management.
Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree preferred or 7 years of related experience (or equivalent combination). Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
Skills and Competencies Job Knowledge
Working knowledge of in‑plant and regulatory audits and inspections, sampling and testing programs, equipment operation, and plant processes.
Balances safety, quality, productivity, cost, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
Experience in dairy, preferably ESL or fresh grade “A” milk processing and production.
Leads problem resolution and root cause analysis to continuously improve products and processes.
Maintains food safety and quality; ensures sanitary work areas, sanitation programs, biosecurity procedures, and reporting of food safety problems; maintains master list of documents for sanitation and production; supports SQF and Ethical Sourcing Program management.
Managing People
Experience in employee development and leadership.
Ability to follow through and stay organized.
Skills gap analysis to identify mentoring opportunities.
Takes responsibility for direct reports’ activities and seeks ways to improve them.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Availability for all shifts when needed, providing a connection to all supervision and front‑line teams.
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.
The pay range for this position is $113,000 - $135,000 USD.
