What We Are Looking For Pivotal Consulting is seeking an experienced Workday Techno‑Functional Consultant to lead the configuration, implementation, and optimization of Workday HCM environments tailored to unique client needs. The role blends technical proficiency, solution architecture, and deep functional expertise across multiple Workday modules.
What You Will Do
Lead end‑to‑end Workday HCM implementations, from discovery through post‑production support, ensuring alignment with client objectives and data architecture standards.
Conduct deep configuration and customization of Workday modules (Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence) for complex or industry‑specific client use cases.
Translate client requirements into optimized business processes, conditional logic, calculated fields, and configurable rules that support unique operational needs.
Design, develop, and deploy Workday integrations using Workday Studio, EIBs, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, PECI, and REST/SOAP APIs.
Implement and manage Workday security frameworks, including domain and business process security policies.
Create and tune advanced reports and dashboards using Report Writer, Matrix, Composite, and BIRT reports; apply Prism Analytics where applicable.
Support cross‑platform integrations with HRIS, Payroll, Finance, and third‑party applications.
Lead fit‑gap and impact analyses to determine optimal system configurations and workarounds for client‑specific requirements.
Advise clients on best practices for tenant management, release management, and configuration lifecycle governance.
Build reusable configuration templates, documentation, and accelerators to improve delivery efficiency.
Provide hands‑on troubleshooting, post‑production support, and continuous improvement recommendations for live Workday tenants.
Collaborate closely with project managers, developers, and client stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet both technical and functional specifications.
Required – What makes you a good fit
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
5+ years of Workday HCM experience, including at least two or more full‑cycle implementations across multiple modules.
Proven ability to perform deep configuration and customization of Workday HCM modules including Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence Management.
Demonstrated success implementing complex client‑specific use cases, including conditional workflows, advanced calculated fields, and integration‑triggered events.
Hands‑on expertise with Workday integration tools (Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Workday Extend).
Strong understanding of security design, tenant configuration strategy, and data migration techniques.
Proficiency with Workday reporting and analytics, including Advanced, Matrix, Composite, and BIRT reports.
Solid grasp of HR, Payroll, and Time/Absence process design, organizational structures, and compliance requirements.
Experience facilitating client workshops, documenting configuration decisions, and developing technical documentation deliverables.
Demonstrated ability to bridge functional and technical teams, translating business problems into scalable system designs.
Workday certifications in one or more HCM functional areas are highly preferred.
Excellent communication, client engagement, and project execution skills.
Preferred
Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, or Azure Cognitive Services.
Familiarity with prompt engineering, LLM fine‑tuning, and knowledge retrieval systems (RAG).
Technical background (e.g., computer science, data engineering, or systems architecture).
PMP, CSM, or Microsoft Certified credentials.

Compensation, Diversity And Benefit Information The pay range for this position in Washington is 45–65 $ / hr. W2 plus benefits; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, candidate location, and experience.
