About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to join our team! The Field Service Technician is responsible for integrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex machine systems at greenhouse sites in the US and Canada. This field‑based position requires previous experience with greenhouse equipment, involves significant travel to customer sites and provides excellent opportunities for career growth.

Responsibilities

Install/integrate, maintain, and troubleshoot complex automated systems in greenhouses and nurseries (including conveyors, hoppers, potting machines, transplanters, camera grading systems).

Diagnose hardware and programming issues, and collaborate with appropriate teams to implement corrective actions.

Perform repairs, upgrades, and preventive maintenance on automation systems.

Provide technical support to clients, including onsite training on equipment operations.

Collaborate with engineering teams to identify areas for improvement and assist in the development of new automation solutions.

Promptly and accurately document all repairs, upgrades, and maintenance activities.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required)

Associate’s degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience or trade certification.

Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience with electro‑mechanical systems including installing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting systems.

Experience in large‑scale commercial nursery or greenhouse is a plus. Agricultural machine experience is also a plus.

Advanced understanding of electrical circuits (including VFD’s, PLC’s, photo‑eyes, encoders) and mechanical systems (including pneumatic actuators, motors, gear boxes, chain drives).

Proficiency in reading, interpreting and explaining technical drawings and schematics.

Excellent problem‑solving and methodical troubleshooting skills.

Proactive communication with home office remote support staff.

Ability to clearly explain the root cause of an issue and the corrective action to the customer.

Train machine operators (both internally and externally) on basic equipment setup and operation.

Effective time‑management skills and the ability to work unsupervised at customer locations.

Travel

A typical month has a minimum of 3 weeks of travel, usually Monday to Friday, across the US or Canada, especially during the first year.

Travel is typically within the work week, but occasional weekend work/travel may be required based on customer requirements and project location. Trips will not extend more than 2 weeks.

As the service territory develops, and the technician is trained to work alone, the goal is to increase local service work to the territory and reduce extended travel requirements.

Valid driver's license is required and ability to travel to Canada if needed. Candidates will be required to obtain a passport during the onboarding process.
