Position Summary

The Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions invites candidates for Anesthesiology Part‑Time Faculty. Position will teach didactic and/or simulation lab courses for BSN‑to‑DNP CRNA graduate students. Courses will be assigned by the Program Director or Assistant Program Director of the DNP program.

In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of part‑time faculty members at the university include teaching and professional activities as assigned.

This applicant pool will remain online and be used to hire interested part‑time faculty as needed during the 2025‑2026 academic year.

Essential Functions Basic Instructional Duties:

Prepare course outlines and teach based on approved departmental syllabi; prepare and deliver consistent, interactive lectures.

Participate in simulation labs as needed.

Prepare and administer timely and meaningful assessments for assigned courses.

Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.

Be available outside of class to help students learn as well as answer their questions (1 hour per 3‑hour class, physically and/or electronically).

May advise on DNP scholarly projects.

Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook policies and processes including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.

Maintain active Health Care Provider State License and associated certification.

Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.

Maintain contact with the department chair and participate in meetings upon request.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of anesthesiology practice and professional issues.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.

Effective instructional delivery.

Proficiency in the use of instructional technology.

Ability to actively engage students in the learning process.

Ability to conduct respectful relationships with students both in and outside the classroom.

Ability to work collegially and productively within the university community.

Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education

Practice Doctorate in Nursing (DNP, DNAP, or EdD) from an accredited institution of higher education. OR

PhD in Nursing or other relevant field from an accredited institution of higher education.

Required Work Experience

Two (2) years of full‑time equivalent anesthesia experience, clinical or teaching.

One (1) year of relevant teaching and leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications Experience with CRNA programs, curriculum development, and DNP projects.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations

Current certification/recertification in respective specialties.

Current unencumbered license or privilege to practice in the State of Texas, or ability to obtain by the start date of the assignment.

Work Hours Typically, two or three days (less than 36 hours) a week from 8 am‑5 pm with extended hours as needed, to include occasional work on the weekend, based on departmental needs to meet departmental goals.

Physical Demands Typical for faculty in this discipline.
