In-Home Veterinarian – San Jose & Surrounding Areas
Heartstrings Pet Hospice & In-Home Euthanasia & Aftercare is looking for an experienced in-home veterinarian to provide compassionate care for geriatric and terminally ill pets. Our mission is to support pets and their families during one of life’s most challenging moments by helping pets pass peacefully in the comfort of their own home.
Base Pay Range $80,000.00 / yr – $120,000.00 / yr (actual pay based on skills and experience)
Key Highlights
Average 3–4 appointments per day
Mobile practice with little administrative work
Comprehensive training and ongoing mentorship
Flexible schedule (2–5 days per week, most appointments between 9 am and 5 pm)
Team building and retreat activities
Responsibilities
Provide in‑home euthanasia and hospice care for geriatric and terminally ill pets
Guide families in making end‑of‑life decisions for their pets
Build relationships with local veterinary clinics, serving as an extension of their care
Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD/BVMS)
Minimum of 1 year experience as a practicing veterinarian
Valid driver’s license
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and up to 100 lbs. assisted
Capability to walk, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, stoop, stand, and reach consistently during the workday
Comfortable with prolonged periods of driving
Excellent manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and steady hands while using medical tools
