Opportunity Information Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG) offers an exceptional opportunity for a Physician Assistant to join our Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery team in San Francisco, California.

Position Details

Full‑time, employed position with a well‑established, collaborative team of Otolaryngologists and Advanced Practice Providers.

Provide care for a wide spectrum of adult and pediatric ENT conditions, fully accountable for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.

Perform patient evaluations in office and hospital settings; conduct in‑office procedures; first‑assist during surgical cases.

Participate in inpatient consultations and perioperative management.

Assist with in‑basket coverage and patient communication on behalf of the surgical team.

Assist with rounding responsibilities with the care team.

On‑boarding and training will cover all ENT subspecialties: head‑and‑neck oncology, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, laryngology, neurotology, and general ENT.

Work hours: 40 per week. No evenings, weekends, or on‑call requirements.

Job Accountabilities

Perform patient assessments: obtain medical information and history, review records, conduct physical exam, document findings, report deviations.

Provide health care services under physician direction.

Assist in diagnostic testing and interpretation of results.

Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and contribute to continuity of care.

Educate patients on therapeutic regimens, healthy development, family planning, emotional health, and maintenance.

Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections and immunizations; manage infection.

Specialty Specific Duties

Act as first/second assistant in accordance with state scope of practice.

Demonstrate knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative technique relevant to procedures.

Provide care for patients of varying complexity.

Assist in positioning, skin preparation, and draping.

Apply hemostasis and wound exposure; handle tissue, suture, and apply dressings under surgeon direction.

Use surgical instruments skillfully.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Current California PA license.

National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification.

Controlled Substance Registration (DEA).

Basic Life Support (BLS).

1+ years of recent relevant experience; preference for Otolaryngology, Surgery or related specialty.

Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
