100% onsite
and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
This
Software Engineering Manager
role will be approximately 75% program & technical work and approximately 25% functional management work.
In the functional management portion of the role, the manager will lead a matrixed functional team of approximately 10‑15 embedded software engineers through technical processes, career development, and performance appraisals. The software manager will also participate in proposal generation, staffing allocations, and recruitment. The manager will guide their team in applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle in support of programs. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) are critical, and the ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in collaborating and leading technical teams.
The candidate will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who can develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The candidate must also demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while adopting new and emerging ways of doing business. Strong communication and people leadership skills are vital to this position. Sound engineering experience, a passion for mentoring and developing employees, and current strong technical program performance are a must.
In the 75% program & technical portion of the role, the candidate will work within one of three areas: Embedded Software, Ground & Simulation Software, or Software Verification. Each of those roles are described below.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and at least five years of technical experience in Software Engineering or associated engineering discipline accompanied by high proficiency in technical problem solving.
Current, active Secret Clearance.
Our Embedded Software Engineers Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determine computer user needs; analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls; prepare operating instructions; design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensure software standards are met.
In This Job, You Will
Have Object Oriented (OO) Software development experience in C/C++ on Linux environment.
Have embedded real-time software development, debug and test.
Experience with real time operating systems (RTOS) environments, including VxWorks, Integrity, LynxOS, Yocto Linux, or other equivalent RTOS.
Experience with the full software development lifecycle.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with PowerPC, ARM, and/or RISC‑V architecture.
Experience in design, integration and testing with real‑time computer‑in‑loop and hardware‑in‑loop test laboratories.
Experience in developing interfaces to support system hardware integration efforts.
Experience with CI/CD such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.

Demonstrated experience with real‑time systems.
Demonstrated experience with hardware/software interface development and integration.
Demonstrated experience with Agile/Scrum development.
Knowledge of C++, Java, and Python.
Graphical User Interface (GUI) development utilizing Java Foundation Classes.
Demonstrated experience with Unix Inter‑Process Communication.
Working knowledge of TCP and UDP protocols and networking concepts.
Knowledge of requirements management methodologies.
Simulation application development experience, both real‑time and non‑real‑time.
Preferred Qualifications
Event driven, multi‑tasking, multi‑threaded, and multi‑processor application development.
Knowledge of POSIX standard.
Telemetry data acquisition and data reduction experience.
Knowledge of the Qt Framework.
Our Software Verification Engineers Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determine computer user needs; analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls; prepare operating instructions; design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Develop software test driver and applications with C++.
Demonstrate proficiency with Linux OS and Linux scripting languages (shell, Python, Robot Framework).
Demonstrate working knowledge of entire systems/software development lifecycle.
Demonstrate working knowledge with requirements‑based software verification/testing.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledgeable in development and management of requirements for re‑usable, object‑oriented software platforms.
Experience in all levels of verification activities (unit, integration, and formal qualification tests).
Proficiency with MATLAB computing environment and script programming.
Familiarity with real‑time operating systems (such as LynxOS, VxWorks), DOORS Requirements Management tool, and Cameo Modeling tool.

Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
