Interim Chief Quality Officer – Arizona American Consultants is looking for an interim Chief Quality Officer for a facility outside Flagstaff, AZ. Must have a valid RN license along with a Master's Degree.

From $5,000.00 per week

Position Summary The Interim Chief Quality Officer (CQO) is responsible for leading, developing, and implementing the hospital’s quality, safety, and performance improvement strategies. The CQO ensures that all quality initiatives align with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and the organization’s mission to provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.

This position requires a licensed registered nurse (RN) with a proven track record in healthcare quality leadership and experience managing interdisciplinary teams in an acute care setting.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership Serve as the senior executive responsible for hospital-wide quality, safety, and performance improvement programs.

Partner with executive and clinical leaders to establish a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Oversee the development and execution of the hospital’s Quality and Patient Safety Plan.

Quality & Performance Improvement Lead quality initiatives focused on reducing variation, improving outcomes, and enhancing the patient experience.

Utilize data analytics, dashboards, and metrics to drive improvement across clinical and operational domains.

Ensure alignment with CMS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory standards.

Patient Safety Oversee patient safety programs, including incident reporting, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.

Promote a just culture that encourages transparency, learning, and accountability.

Accreditation & Compliance Direct and coordinate all regulatory and accreditation readiness activities.

Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations as well as hospital policies and procedures.

Collaboration & Communication Work collaboratively with nursing, medical staff, and department leaders to integrate quality and safety initiatives into daily operations.

Present quality metrics and improvement plans to the Board of Directors, Medical Executive Committee, and senior leadership.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field

Licensure:

Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license required.

Experience:

Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive healthcare experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in quality, safety, or performance improvement. Acute care hospital experience required. Demonstrated success in leading regulatory survey readiness and improvement initiatives.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong leadership and communication skills. Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation of clinical and operational metrics. In-depth knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission standards, and evidence‑based quality practices.

Term and Compensation Duration:

Interim (anticipated 3–6 months, with potential extension)
