Base pay range $154,800.00/yr - $212,800.00/yr
Reporting responsibilities The
General Manager – Tooling
reports to the
VP, Operations
and will manage tooling operations, collaborate on projects with customers or internal colleagues, oversee new tool and mold development, improve manufacturing processes, and maintain production molds. The role includes assuring product quality through testing methods, equipment, and tools, estimating manufacturing capacity, producing and materials control, warehousing, site facilities, maintenance, industrial engineering, and other manufacturing hold‑up activities.
What a typical day looks like
Accountable for overseeing and directing the site to ensure business development growth and attainment of profit and operations goals.
Assess existing and potential markets and develop and maintain strategic alliances with key customers.
Interact regularly with executives and major clients, influencing and negotiating with customers.
Demonstrate positive human relations and business skills effective at all levels of the organization.
Develop functional and process expertise to deliver customer solutions quickly and at the lowest possible cost.
Manage new tooling requisitions from prototype or complex designs through mass production.
Lead improvements, major repairs, and Engineering Change Notices for molds.
Implement preventive maintenance for production molds.
Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, designing, modifying, testing methods and equipment.
Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing tooling and process.
Implement quality and safety improvements and training for tool room team.
Cooperate across functional areas including Engineering, Procurement, Materials Management, Regulatory, Quality, Warehousing, logistics, Business Excellence, HR, and Financial controls.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; MBA is preferred.
8 or more years of industry experience, with at least 10 years in Operations Management and at an executive level.
Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and multi‑million‑dollar revenues.
Ability to significantly improve operation metrics, including increasing turns, out‑of‑box quality, on‑time delivery, and reducing cycle time, costs and inventory.
Experience in reverse logistics, warranty repair and service a plus.
Ability to influence senior‑level management, executives and key clients.NPI experience with new customer programs from concept to successful execution.
Proven sales development skills and excellent operational and financial acumen.
Experience working with ODMs and/or OEMs.
