Role Description Terawatt is creating a new asset class of EV charging infrastructure to support the rapidly growing fleet EV market.

Working on the forefront of electrification, the Senior Field Engineer will play a critical role in developing an industry‑leading maintenance and service program for our customers.

The key function of the Senior Field Engineer will be to maintain, troubleshoot and repair all electrical infrastructure equipment from the incoming utility switchboard to the EVSE that provides a mission‑critical fuel source to our customers.

You will develop a robust maintenance program that will directly impact our mission of 97% EVSE uptime.

The Senior Field Engineer will work closely with our internal Engineering, Operations, and Project Development teams.

In this nascent market, customers’ needs and available technology evolve rapidly, requiring a responsive and dynamic set of operations and service offerings.

In many cases, customers will be engaging with a charging product for the first time and you will be responsible for defining their experience.

You will be able to drive impact by enabling customers to operate their electric fleets more easily, helping their companies transition to low‑emission transport.

Core Responsibilities

Perform advanced OEM testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades on a wide range of electrical equipment on electric‑vehicle infrastructure and facilities.

Conduct detailed performance testing, including insulation resistance (megger) testing, thermal imaging, torque verification, and overall system evaluations to ensure optimal equipment reliability.

Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues, including ground faults and system performance anomalies.

Lead preventive and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring all site equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Collaborate with the planning and scheduling team to maintain adherence to maintenance schedules and ensure timely, accurate completion of work orders.

Review and interpret site manuals, technical drawings, and schematics to support effective service, troubleshooting, and maintenance operations.

Accurately document all field activities, maintenance actions, and system findings in the work order system, ensuring timely reporting and follow‑up with stakeholders.

Provide expert‑level service support across installation, commissioning, upgrades, retrofits, replacements, and end‑of‑life activities.

Build and maintain strong customer relationships by delivering high‑quality service, understanding customer needs, and ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Identify potential equipment failures, implement proactive corrective actions, and provide recommendations to prevent future recurrence.

Communicate insights and suggestions for product, process, and quality improvements to internal teams to drive continuous operational excellence.

Coordinate and ensure the availability of all required materials, tools, and parts to support service and maintenance activities.

Uphold company safety standards by applying safe work practices, maintaining environmental responsibility, and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.

Maintain all required safety certifications, training, and continuing education necessary to remain current with industry standards and company requirements.

Support business development efforts by identifying and communicating potential service or sales opportunities encountered in the field.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum 5 years of maintenance or electrical experience

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe and acceptable driving record according to company policy

Knowledge of NFPA & the NEC

Strong computer skills; comfortable with Microsoft, Google, CMS, and other cloud‑based computing programs

Ability to communicate and function well in a mobile office setting

Must be reliable, have good initiative, and be committed and quality‑focused

Preferred Qualifications

Active journeyman license

Bachelor’s degree

SCADA experience is a plus

Strong mechanical background

Prior or existing CPR and first aid certification

Compensation Compensation for this role is determined by several factors, including the cost of labor in specific geographic markets.

The actual compensation offer will be based on the candidate’s location, skills, level of expertise and experience, and internal equity considerations.
