The Opportunity As our DMV Specialist, you’ll ensure that every vehicle handled by Plug, whether destined for sale, transport, or auction, is properly titled, registered, and compliant with state DMV regulations. You’ll serve as the key internal resource to manage title work, registrations, lien releases/payoffs, and DMV‑related documentation. Your work will help Plug scale operations efficiently while ensuring all legal and regulatory paperwork is accurate, timely, and properly tracked.
Key Responsibilities Title Processing & DMV Compliance
Process all vehicles for title transfer and registration.
Prepare and submit tax, title, registration, and lien release/payoff documentation.
Verify the completeness and accuracy of all documents.
Track status of outstanding titles and submissions; resolve discrepancies.
Maintain records for out‑of‑state titles and registrations.
Coordination & Cross‑functional Collaboration
Coordinate with internal teams to gather required paperwork and payoff information.
Work with lenders to secure lien releases or payoff confirmation.
Serve as the internal expert on DMV and titling regulations.
Provide updates on title/registration status to internal and external partners.
Record Keeping & Reporting
Maintain organized digital and physical records of all DMV documentation.
Prepare reports on title backlog, registration status, and compliance issues.
Ensure audit‑ready records for compliance or internal review.
Process Improvement
Build and maintain SOPs for title processing and registration workflows.
Identify bottlenecks and propose workflow improvements.
Qualifications What You’ll Bring..
1–3+ years of experience in DMV, title clerk, or automotive title processing roles.
Strong knowledge of DMV regulations and titling requirements.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and record‑keeping skills.
Excellent communication abilities.
Proactive problem‑solving mindset.
Comfort with spreadsheets, document management, and dealership/title software.
Nice to Have..
Experience with multi‑state titling or EV‑specific registration.
Familiarity with dealer management or inventory systems.
Experience managing lien releases and payoffs.
SOP/process documentation experience in automotive or compliance settings.
