Project Manager – Construction (Owners Rep/CM)
Company: fast growing construction consulting firm specializing in biotech, lab, and life science construction. Founded ~7 years ago, with well-known clients in the Greater Bay Area. Location: San Francisco, CA.
Base Pay $150,000 – $220,000 per year.
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic, highly skilled, and results-driven Project Manager to lead a portfolio of large biotech/life science construction projects as an Owners Rep/CM. The role involves managing project life cycles, budgets, schedules, stakeholder communication, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Manage and lead all aspects of multiple complex projects in the Biotech, Life Science, and Advanced Technology construction sectors from conception to completion.
Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Coordinate with various stakeholders including clients, architects, and subcontractors to ensure clear communication and successful project delivery.
Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations and maintain a safe and clean project site.
Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety standards.
Manage project risks effectively, making contingency plans to manage issues that arise.
Prepare and present project status reports to stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress, risks, and issues.
Foster relationships with clients, architects, and subcontractors to ensure customer satisfaction and future business opportunities.
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management/construction management within the construction industry, specifically in Biotech, Life Science, and Advanced Technology construction.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but NOT required.
Proven track record of managing and delivering complex construction projects $50M or greater on time and within budget.
In-depth understanding of construction procedures, materials, and project management principles.
Excellent knowledge of construction contract administration and familiarity with construction and project management software.
Exceptional leadership, organizational, and time‑management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and build relationships with clients, team members, and subcontractors.
Proficient in MS Office and project management software.
A commitment to health and safety, with a current understanding of relevant legislation.
PMP or equivalent certification would be considered an asset.
