Staff Data Engineer, Fintech – Intuit
Overview
Come join the Data Solutions Engineering Team as a Staff Data Engineer. We are leveraging big data technologies to gain new insights into our Fintech Data Engineering function using data frameworks, ingestion pipelines and tools. Some of the technologies we are leveraging include Hadoop, Hive and AWS Big Data Systems (EMR, Redshift, S3).
Responsibilities
Drive projects in the Fintech Data Engineering by working cross‑functionally with BI teams, analysts, data scientists, product managers, etc.
Customer empathy and delight will be the main drivers for success.
70‑85% hands‑on development in all phases of the software life cycle.
Design end‑to‑end data pipelines given business and operational requirements (ingestion, processing and storage).
Conduct design and code reviews.
Identify dependencies, estimate work, and sequence tasks as inputs to building project plans.
Collaborate effectively with peer engineers and architects to solve complex engineering problems.
Influence and communicate effectively with non‑technical audiences, including senior product managers and business stakeholders.
Focus on operational excellence through root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement.
Proactively follow issues through to resolution.
Contribute to innovations that fuel Intuit’s growth as a whole.
Qualifications
10+ years of software development experience, including developing DB schemas, creating ETLs, and familiarity with MPP/Hadoop systems.
Advanced experience with scripting languages such as Python and Shell.
Experience with Amazon Web Services: EC2, S3, and EMR (Elastic Map Reduce), Redshift or equivalent cloud computing approaches.
Hands‑on experience with the Hadoop stack of technologies – mainly Hive and Hive on Spark.
Experience designing, building, and maintaining highly scalable, robust, and fault‑tolerant complex data processing pipelines from the ground up.
Experience working with large data volumes.
Experience creating and consuming JSON/REST web services and communicating with systems.
Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and practices.
Experience working in Agile development teams; knowledge of Scrum and other Agile methodologies.
Operational mindset with ability to perform problem, SLA, and incident management.
Strong expertise in writing analytical SQLs, data marts, data warehousing, and analytic architecture.
BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Compensation & Benefits Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay-for-performance rewards approach. This position will be eligible for cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits in accordance with our applicable plans and programs. The expected base pay range for this position is: $186,500 to $252,000.
