The Surgical Technician provides care to the peri-operative patient under the direct supervision of an R.N. The Surgical Technician maintains operating room environmental standards according to recommended practices to ensure a safe, supportive environment for staff, medical staff and patient. The Surgical Technician maintains room supplies and furniture to ensure adequate levels for surgical caseloads. The Surgical Technician uses resources (supplies, and equipment) judiciously to ensure efficient and cost effective operation of the department. Up to $10,000 SOB for qualified candidates, paid over 24 months.

Position Summary

The Surgical Technician assists with the nursing care of the patients in the OR by performing routine and delegated duties according to the standards of practice and policy and procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse at all times. Serves as a scrub nurse, but not independently as a circulating nurse. Other duties include stocking, replenishing, preparing, and/or selecting supplies and equipment for storage or use during surgical procedures. Assists with housekeeping functions to maintain cleanliness in the OR. Activities are directed toward achieving desired patient outcomes. Demonstrates the ability to interpret information to identify the patient’s age specific needs and provides appropriate care for the age group in question. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements Education: High school graduate or GED, Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program or equivalent Certifications: On The Job Training Basic Life Support Preferred Requirements Education: Graduate of Surgical tech. Program. Experience: Clinical experience of at least one year Certification in the field preferred
