Location: Hybrid/Homewood Campus

Salary Range: $75,100 – $131,700 annually (commensurate with experience)

Reporting To: Executive Director for Student Success, Center for Student Success

Overview

The Center for Student Success (CSS) seeks a strategic, collaborative Director, FLI Network to lead the FLI Network as the primary communications, community‑building, and programmatic hub for the FLI community at Johns Hopkins University. The FLI Network serves first‑generation and/or low‑income undergraduate students, their families, alumni, and the broader campus community. The Director will oversee programming, communications, and partnerships to advance the FLI initiatives and enhance inclusion and success for all students.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise 4–5 full‑time staff members and provide mentorship to the FLI Network student advisory board.
  • Develop annual program budgets, aligning financial and human resources with strategic priorities.
  • Create and implement a long‑range vision for the FLI Network aligned with the FLI initiatives and JHU’s mission.
  • Serve as the primary communicator of the FLI community, developing strategic outreach and education for campus stakeholders.
  • Maintain close collaboration with CSS program leads and partner offices (e.g., Admissions, Student Transitions, Counseling Center).
  • Lead the FLI COMPASS webinar series and other family‑engagement programs.
  • Analyze assessment data, identify trends, and report on program effectiveness; use findings to inform adjustments and budgeting.
  • Track and report metrics such as retention, graduation rates, engagement, and satisfaction for FLI Network programming.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge, Skills, Or Abilities

  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, written, public‑speaking, and listening skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both faculty and administrative cultures.
  • Strong budgeting, planning, organization, supervision, and management experience.
  • Track record of collaboration, negotiation, consensus building, and relationship management.
  • Experience with complex, data‑driven organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in developing, articulating, operationalizing, and assessing strategic priorities.
  • Ability to cultivate trust and credibility with colleagues at all levels.
  • Proven ability to establish strategic relationships to strengthen program and service delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field, preferably in a Humanities or Social Science discipline.
  • Five years of experience leading, implementing, and managing complex programs.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high‑school equivalency, if permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Seven years of experience.
  • Terminal degree in chosen field.
