Job Summary Levy with Purdue Athletics is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Culinary RD. This position will serve as a critical link between sports performance nutrition and culinary operations, ensuring that all meals provided to student-athletes meet rigorous nutritional standards while delivering exceptional dining experiences. This hybrid role collaborates with Purdue Athletics and Levy Restaurants to design, implement, and monitor athlete-focused dining programs in the new athletic dining hall.
Key Responsibilities Menu Development & Nutritional Oversight: Collaborate with chefs to create performance-optimized menus tailored to sport-specific needs, dietary restrictions, and seasonal availability. Ensure compliance with NCAA nutrition guidelines and Purdue Athletics standards. Oversight of Teamworks Kitchen/Nutrition app - ensuring that menus are accurate and have standardized Menuworks recipe attached Education & Engagement Conduct nutrition education sessions for culinary in the athletic dining hall. Provide individualized consultations as needed. Work with Athletics dietitians to ensure special dietary needs are being met (e.g. Weight gain/loss, Low sodium or fiber for weight class student-athletes, mechanically altered diets,
T1DM, GI needs, food allergies and cultural accommodations) Operational Integration Work closely with Levy culinary leadership to align food preparation with nutrition goals Ensure allergens are accurately monitored and depicted on menu boards, line tags, and Teamworks Nutrition Support special events (e.g., pre-game meals, recovery fueling stations) and recruiting dinners Other duties as assigned Monitoring & Reporting Track feedback and adjust menus accordingly Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and performance metrics Qualifications Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required; CSSD (Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics) preferred Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition/Dietetics; Master’s preferred Minimum 2 years of experience in sports nutrition or performance dining settings Strong culinary knowledge and ability to collaborate with chefs on menu execution Familiarity with food safety standards and large-scale food service operations Excellent communication and leadership skills. Core Competencies Nutrition Expertise: Deep understanding of fueling strategies for collegiate athletes Culinary Collaboration: Ability to translate nutrition science into practical, appealing meals Technology Proficiency: Experience with menu management systems (e.g., Webtrition) Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
