As a core product offering within our advertising portfolio, Sponsored Products (SP) helps merchants, retail vendors, and brand owners succeed via native advertising, which grows incremental sales of their products sold through Amazon. We deliver billions of ad impressions and millions of clicks and break fresh ground in product and technical innovations every day!
The Books Advertising team owns the worldwide advertising business for books, including advertiser and shopper experiences. They develop long-term vision and drive improvements for category relevance, auction dynamics, and ad serving. The team also drives advertiser engagement, represents advertisers' voice, and provides operational support for our programs. They own all book‑specific experiences for Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, Lock Screen Advertising, the Ads Console, and the Public API.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in end-to-end Machine Learning projects that have a high degree of ambiguity, scale, and complexity.
Effectively perform hands‑on analysis and research of large data sets to develop insights that increase traffic monetization and merchandise sales, without compromising the shopper experience.
Contribute to building machine‑learning models, perform proof‑of‑concepts, experiments, optimization, and deployment of models into production; work closely with software engineers to assist in productionizing your ML models.
Run A/B experiments, gather data, and perform statistical analysis.
Help establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large‑scale data analysis, machine‑learning model development, model validation, and serving.
Research new and innovative machine‑learning approaches.

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab).
4+ years of data scientist experience.
Experience with statistical models such as multinomial logistic regression.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of data visualization experience using AWS QuickSight, Tableau, R Shiny, etc.
Experience managing data pipelines.
Experience as a leader and mentor on a data science team.
Compensation
The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
