Responsibilities include patient care, examinations, diagnostics, surgery assistance, nursing care, feeding, supplies, triage, discharge, and record keeping. Key Responsibilities Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations and interviews, reviewing care plans, completing laboratory tests, and diagnostic imaging. Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, bandaging and wrapping wounds. Support patient examinations and operations by assembling required supplies and instruments, securing and bringing patients to examination rooms, and restraining patients; aids as directed by the veterinarian. Apply full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, specialized equipment usage, and specialized drug administration. Obtain and verify medications. Ensure patients have food and water, maintain clean rooms, cages, and equipment, and observe clinical signs of disease. Fill prescriptions and administer medications, including proper documentation logging and security of controlled drugs. Maintain a safe, secure, healthy, and humane environment by sterilizing instruments, sanitizing and disinfecting areas, storing sterile supplies, and following standards and legal regulations. Maintain medical records by documenting patients’ conditions, reactions, and changes; update the database accurately and timely. Communicate with pet owners about patient status. Maintain equipment, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and call for repairs. Maintain inventory, place orders for needed supplies, verify receipts. Continue learning by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional journals. Release pets to owners as directed; ensure each animal released is clean and properly groomed. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or practice. Qualifications (Required) High school diploma or GED. Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) as required by State. One or more years of experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients. May consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experiences. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Displays a desire to build rapport, provide personal assistance, and emotional support. Works cooperatively with the team to address tasks and accomplish goals. Demonstrates responsibility and dependability. Proactively looks for opportunities to address and follow through on work activities. Adapts quickly to changing demands and manages multiple priorities. Uses effective communication methods. Provides outstanding customer service and exceeds expectations. Maintains organized systems for documents. Consistently follows standard procedures. Schedule Overnight, Monday through Sunday.
