KPMG is currently seeking a Managing Director and Associate General Counsel, Lead Audit Counsel to join the Office of the General Counsel.

Responsibilities

Serve as a primary OGC contact for leadership of the Audit and Assurance Practice on legal and regulatory matters related to professional services; advise Tax and Advisory functions on similar matters, including resolution of potential disputes.

Organize the work of the Practice Advisory Group to support the Audit and Assurance Practice.

Stay current on legal and regulatory developments impacting the audit profession and advise the Practice of such developments.

Support the development of comment letters and guidance for the Audit and Assurance Practice.

Qualifications

Minimum of 15 years of experience in well-regarded law firms, government agencies, or in-house legal departments; JD or LLM from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the U.S., including the state where the office is located.

Deep experience with civil litigation and regulatory investigations relating to the audits of public and private companies, and advising and counseling the profession on legal and regulatory matters, including through provision of training; knowledge of securities laws, rules and regulations relating to the audit profession.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results; strategic thinking in sensitive and complex situations; highest ethical standards, integrity, authenticity, credibility, and character.

Demonstrated collaboration skills, including building strong business partnerships and working within cross-functional teams; client-service orientation with the ability to create effective working relationships cross-functionally.

Leadership skills and ability to navigate ambiguity and influence stakeholders; high emotional intelligence to manage relationships across the team and broader organizations, resolve conflicts, manage change, and understand needs and motivations of senior leaders and team members.

Ability to proactively identify potential challenges, opportunities for enhancement and innovation, including leveraging technology.

Salary ranges (California): $402,000 – $880,000. Availability varies by location. Full compensation is determined based on skills, responsibilities, experience, and market considerations.
