Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a strategic leader, the Director‑Human Resources aligns business objectives with employees and management in designated markets and/or divisions. The director serves as an evidence‑based consultant to executive leadership on organizational goals and strategy concerning human resource issues, including but not limited to employee relations, labor relations, performance management, training, policy application, organizational development, workforce planning, ADA interactive process and compensation. The director will lead the design and integration of key strategic initiatives within their respective facilities, proactively communicate needs to the HR department, colleagues within the Centers of Expertise (CoE) and management, and develop integrated solutions as a change agent and champion for new HR initiatives and programs.
Responsibilities
Strategic Alignment – Partner with clients to understand and assess business direction based on the local market and CommonSpirit Health’s Strategic Plan. Create specific business plans to support HR‑related goals, address weaknesses, capitalize on strengths, and take advantage of opportunities. Work with leadership to interpret results and progress of HR goals and prepare presentations for client groups.
Employee Relations – Serve as a resource to employees, management, and the HR team to promote and maintain positive employee relations. Proactively identify, manage, and facilitate equitable resolution of job‑related complaints and concerns.
Labor Relations – Provide direction and support to management regarding policy and procedure interpretation and collective bargaining agreements. Partner with the Employee/Labor Relations CoE to provide education and advice on documentation and legal requirements for performance improvement and termination processes.
Performance and Leadership Coaching – Offer advice, feedback, and development to improve leaders and their teams. Provide guidance on engagement, performance management, employee relations, training, and other HR areas, and coach leaders at all levels on management skills, conflict resolution, and communications.
Culture – Integrate culture standards in line with CommonSpirit Health’s mission, vision, and values into business unit practices and processes to ensure a positive, desired work culture. Apply culture diagnostic tools to craft plans addressing culture development needs.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and 7‑10 years of HR and/or leadership experience in the discipline, or a master’s degree with relevant HR experience and/or certifications.
HR experience encompassing at least two specialty areas (e.g., compensation, benefits, employee/labor relations, talent acquisition).
Preferred credentials upon hire: Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM‑CP).
