Location: Richardson, TX or Aurora, CO (On‑site at Government Contractor)
Salary: $215,000–$230,000 (based on experience)
Clearance Required: Active and transferable DoD Top Secret with TS/SCI eligibility; the role requires an active and transferable DoD Top Secret clearance with TS/SCI access and polygraph. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for security clearance.

About the Role We are seeking a Principal Data Modeler & Database Engineer to support classified programs in Richardson, TX or Aurora, CO. Relocation assistance is available.
You will design, build, update, and maintain high‑performance data models and databases that directly support national security initiatives. This work provides the opportunity to contribute to impactful, cutting‑edge technologies in a secure, mission‑driven environment.
Responsibilities
Develop physical data models and database structures (tables, indexes, constraints, views).
Analyze business requirements, RFCs, and technical documentation to determine data modeling impacts.
Work closely with systems engineers, product owners, architects, and other stakeholders to validate data requirements.
Author and implement data model changes (DDL) via automated database change‑control processes.
Partner with developers on SQL best practices and database interaction patterns.
Use tools such as Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler, Oracle Designer, and similar platforms.
Apply strong critical‑thinking, problem‑solving, and analytical abilities.
Participate in Agile/Scrum development workflows.
Maintain eligibility for SCI access and complete all required polygraphs.
Obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of hire.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline.
Minimum 8 years of professional experience as a Database Engineer.
At least 5 years of relational data modeling experience using Oracle and PostgreSQL.
At least 8 years of Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL SQL/plpgsql experience.
Experience with Bash scripting and Python.
Experience collaborating with Systems and Software Engineers on backend database designs.
Strong Linux command‑line skills for database administration and deployment automation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills.
Active and transferable DoD Top Secret security clearance with TS/SCI eligibility and polygraph. Only U.S. citizens are eligible.
