VP Development & Construction - Critical Facilities
Location: Dallas, TX
Overview Leading mission‑critical data center developer seeks VP to lead construction and development projects. Role focuses on budget, schedule, quality, and strategic leadership of contractors, consultants, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the full lifecycle of data center development and construction projects up to the point of either Core and Shell or through MEP Construction / Integration / Go Live
Develop and maintain overall project budgets on all projects, ensuring adherence to financial targets
Oversee creation and manage project schedules, addressing critical path conflicts as needed
Develop / Delegate the issuance of RFPs for project bids, evaluate bidder qualifications, and negotiate contracts
Supervise consultant and contractor activities throughout all project phases
Oversee job cost tracking systems to ensure compliance with budgets and schedules; process invoices and support cost reporting
Regularly report on project status and key milestones to senior leadership
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including permits and safety requirements.
Participate in due diligence processes for potential developments and acquisitions
Drive zoning and rezoning efforts, understand permit process, collaborate with legal and engineering teams
Implement sustainability and efficiency initiatives or other energy efficiency programs
Contribute to ongoing process improvements and workflow optimization within the department
Belong and attend professional organizations such as AFCOM, ASHRAE, 7x24 Exchange, PTC, Datacenter Dynamics / DCD, Uptime, iMasons, Bisnow, etc.
Possess an extensive network within the mission critical data center facilities construction market
Background in Critical Facilities Design, Architecture, Engineering and Construction Services
Qualifications
8-10+ years of experience in construction management, with a focus on complex data center or mixed‑use critical facilities projects from inception to completion
Experience managing Data Center Construction Projects as an Owner or as a General Contractor
Must be familiar with the design process of building systems for data center and mission critical projects
Previous GC experience (Holder, Turner, DPR, HITT, etc.)
Strong experience managing project budgets, schedules, and contracts
Familiarity with design, development, and construction principles specific to mission‑critical data center facilities – MEP / CSA : Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Civil, Structural and Architectural
Proficient in drafting agreements and reviewing contracts
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; experience with design software is a plus
Analytical and detail‑oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment
Previous experience in the Military / Military Veterans a huge plus! Experience with Electrical / Mechanical : Navy nukes - EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, etc.
