Brand Strategy Specialist – California State University, Long Beach Job Summary This position supports departmental and divisional efforts to enhance stakeholder engagement and advance institutional priorities through coordinating paid media and special online campaigns; tracking and reporting on departmental performance metrics and institutional recognitions; maintaining information resources and providing brand guidance; conducting research to inform communications strategy and development; and participating in emergency-communications response.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Foundational knowledge of strategic communication principles; ability to keep abreast of emerging trends in communications and brand strategy; working knowledge of tools (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Meta Business Suite, Google Console); ability to identify and report on key performance indicators; make informed recommendations based on data and research; knowledge of media outlets; basic copyright knowledge; digital communication techniques; proficiency in setting up, publishing, monitoring and adjusting social media ads; strong writing and editing skills; ability to handle sensitive information; interpersonal skills; organizational and time management skills; attention to detail; ability to communicate with a diverse campus community; compliance with university policies.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience.

Occasional weekend and evening work required.

Physical Summary Light work – job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.

Classification Marketing Communications Professional II

Compensation Salary placement determined by education, experience, and qualifications. Hiring range: $5,178 (Step #1) - $7,543 (Step #20) per month.

Duration of Appointment This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
